Anyone have your hard drive disintegrate? I'm wondering how much to recover data on my HD.?
Answers:
most hard drive recoverys start at $150-$500 and go up depending on the amount of data recovered. Try OnTrack for recovery also. A trick I use a lot is to wrap the drive in a towel and freeze it (yes, in a freezer) for 12-18 hours. Take it out and immediately plug it in and see if you can retrieve the data. Had to freeze on twice to get it all but it works about 50% of the time. Good Luck.
I used a data recovery service one time for a client who lost critical data on a laptop hard drive. They fully recovered 99.946% of files from the drive. It cost about $1,500 and was well worth it to my client.
Most don't check external drives, however a free one does, it's called Recuva.

To select data recovery service and data recovery company is really confusing. If you want to do data recovery by yourself I suggest you to get free sources from websites. One of the interesting and really helpful source for hard drive data recovery is http://datarecoveryguru.net/32/hard-driv... where you can also find more information about data recovery service, technique and data recovery tips. I found it really helpful.
