Why does my computer start humming upon start up?
Answers:
Hard drives have disks in them. When you start your computer your disks begin to spin like a cd in a cd player. Aged hard drives get loose over time and can wabble causing them to hum. I would highly recommend backing up your hard drive. If your pc is 5 years old, it probably has a small hard drive compared to todays standards anyway. You can buy a new hard drive at a decent price many times larger than the one you have.
Could be HDD(Hard Drive Disk) when it starts up it hums
but if something is humming qiute loudly then its probably your fan and there dusty
clean em up with a air compressed can or
(for experienced computer users)
manually take it out and clean it (i advise just to use a air compressed can because that can cause damage due to carelessness)
Two things to check that are important.
Check to make sure your power supply fan is spinning
Check to make sure your processor fan is spinning
If either of these are making that humming noise, clean them out with a can of compressed air while the computer is OFF.
If the fans are what are humming and you've cleaned them, then replace them if the humming continues.
if the system's temperature increases then this type of error causes. If processor fan doesn't work properly this type of problem occurs.Clean ur system through blore.Check the fan's speed
maybe the fan motor or hard drive motor is starting to wear out
i have had this problem before check first the cdrom/dvdrom bezel or tray front is not loose. or it could be the cdrom drive. when the hdd drive is huming or making noise it is not ever good unless it is a scsi drive pernouced scuzzy. those drives after a period of time are quite loud but dont usually mean that something is wrong they just get quite loud after the years of use. main thing to check is where on the computer is the sound coming from front back or side. if its is the back it is the power supply or case fan. if its is the side could be the hdd and the front could be the cdrom or a case fan in the front.
It will be one of the fans starting to wear out. Find out which one and replace it. I just had to do this with one of mine.
