You did not mention if the sound was working before. if it was not working before, I believe the first place to start will be to check your sound driver if it is installed properly. To do thid, go to computer properties and click on device manager from there you will see if your drivers and properly installed. if it is not installed showing yellow mark on any of the driver option, you have to look for the driver CD and install or update the driver. This problem can happen if you have just updated your operating system or your driver becomes corrupted...

If the above is not teh case, the other problem can be with your sound card, Your sound card can become bad. to test this see if you can lay your hand on a plug-in sound card, install the drivers and see if your speakers now work...

If you have done this and you are still having problem with your speak's sound, then we have to concentrate our effort on the speaker itself. Find another speak and use that for test, if that works then your problem is solved.

Also, I may have to ask you to check your jack connectors to the computer from the speaker and the position you have put it in... plug the jack properly and your problem might be solved.

And finally, if still have a taping sound on your speaker, i think you may have to check the keys on your keyboard. Sometimes a key pressed down can cause problem as you have mentioned.

I bles with this you should be on the way to solving your problem.

Good luck
you havent install your drivers to do so use the cd from the company

Well that means they are getting signal. Turn off the computer. (Start, shutdown) then Make sure all the plugs in the back of the computer are firmly seated. Then turn it back on. It is possible the speakers are in the wrong plug. Most now are color coded so make sure it is in the small green hole.
