How do I copy a file from a CD-ROM and paste it to my computers hardrive?

My textbook says that I need to copy a file called FCC1.mbk from the student data template CD-ROM to the folder on my hard drive (or network drive) where I will be saving all of my work during this course. The big problem is I have no idea where to start. Can someone please give me a clue thanks.

Answers:

Hi Christina,

Well you have to just copy and paste the file from the CD rom to the folder on your hard drive or your network drive. But if it does not get copied you can always use softwares like Nero which create the image of the CD and you can copy that image to your local hard drive or network drive and access it any time you want.
Very easy.

1. Just put the cd in.
2. Click Start, Click My Computer, Double Click on the icon for the cd-drive that the cd is in.
3. Find the file on the cd
4. left click (and hold down) on the FCC1.mbk file and use mouse to drag it the folder on your computer that you are saving all your work to...and it will automatically be copied to that location.
5. This will take no time at all depending on file size
You can open your CDROM after you insert it from the start->my computer. Navigate to the file, select it. Type CTRL-C, the control button and the letter C at the same time. This is copy.

Open a folder someplace, perhaps the desktop or My Documents. Right click in the folder new-folder. Go to the folder the type CTRL-V.

Good luck!

CTRL-C and CTRL-V work when there is no menu too. Like in the URL window.
Put CD rom in drive. Double click My computer icon on desktop, you will now see all your drives, such as CD ROM, hard drive etc. Right click your CD ROM drive, then select "explore' as an option. This open the CD ROM so you can see files & folders in it. Find the file you are needing to copy. NOTE (might be inside a folder so you might have to look a few places). After you find it, right click the file & copy it. Browse to your hard drive where you will be saving your work at. Open the folder you want to save to, right click & paste.
1) Insert the Data CD into the Drive
2) If the CD auto starts close it
3) If you get a window that asks you which program you want to use to open the disk, choose No Action
4) Goto Start button
5) Goto My Computer
6) Double Left Click the Optical drive that has the CD in it, this will open the CD with windows Explorer
7) Locate the file on the CD you need to copy and Single Left click the file to highlight it
8) goto Edit options at top of the window, select Copy
9) Decide where you are going to store the file, like My Documents or some other folder
10) Browse to that location and select Edit at the top of the window then select Paste, this will copy the file to your destination.
Put disk in cd drive ,if it auto runs cancel it out.Open win explorer and click the cd drive/ find your file / right click it /left click copy from the pop up screen/ Then search for the new location for the file/when you find it/right click it and left click paste from the pop up screen The file is now there
First insert the cd into the cdrom, then double click on My computer which is displayed on the desktop, then double click on the cdrom drive, select the file u required to copy (FCC1.mbk), right click on that file select copy option, then select the drive in which u want to paste that file, then create a folder if required, open that folder, right click on the blank space, then select paste option, then the required file gets pasted on ur hard drive.
