My CD drive is acting stupid?

well about 2 weeks ago i put a cracked cd in there it read it and i used and about 30 secs later it exploded in there and my cd driver was still working perfectly then a week later i wanted to burn a movie and i pushed the button now it opens and closes by its self. what do i do?

Answers:
Either take the CD player out with the draw open and shake it out. There might be a piece of CD in there that's causing the ruckus. If not, buy a new one - they're like 20 bucks or so.

maybe your cd drive is smarteer than you.
Sounds like the controller for the tray is shot. I suggest installing a new CD/DVD drive. You can pick one up from Wal-Mart or Staples; the cost is around $50 and they're a cinch to install (they come with instructional posters).
most likely your open button is stuck and is activate by bumps etc. Do this. Take out the cd player and take off the front of the cdplayer white/black plastic and put it back. That should fix it.
When that CD exploded maybe you didn't get all the pieces out, and now maybe one of those pieces are jamming the drive. Open cd tray and take a close look...you make have to pull your drive and open it up.

It seems pretty reasonable it's related to that incident, as long as you have made any other changes.
get a new cd-rom drive
