Apparently I need a new modem to go along with Windows Vista. What kind of modem do I need to go wireless wit

All the other computers in my house work with the Westell, we've had it for like four years. But all the tech support people I've called Microsoft, HP and Verzion can't help me. The Microsoft person told me I need to update the modem, but the Verzion people now are telling me that I need a new modem.

Which is the best for wireless?

Answers:
If I understand correctly what you are asking, you want to know if you should update your modem or if you should get a new one, and you will do whichever results in having a better wireless connection.

I recommend trying to update the modem first. It should be free of charge. You should be able to download a firmware update from the manufacturer's website.

If this fails then get a new modem. Since you have been with the same broadband provider for four years it is unlikely they have ever changed the modem. Four years is a lifetime in electronics. There are new wireless technologies out now that are most likely not supported by your four year old modem such as Wireless - N and WiFi.

Updating the firmware might be a temporary fix, but to avoid future problems your best bet is to get a new modem.
