Anybody now how to create multiboot between xp and vista?
Answers:
You must always install dual boot with the OLDEST first.
When you install a second, it overwrites the bootup of the previous install, with an older bootup-type.
I say bootup-type, because XP and Vista use differnt types of booting. XP uses boot.ini...Vista uses a bootmanager.
WAY DIFFERENT
My suggestion:
If you want dual boot with XP and Vista, use two hard drives, one for each installation.
Physically disconnect ONE while installing the OTHER.
Use CMOS setup to determine which drive you will boot too.
A little tiny bit more to startup if you flip flop lots, but MUCH less problematic.
You had a bad installation that had been bypassed. If you install a second OS to you system it should auto set the multi-boot. If not you will have to do this manually by configuring the boot.ini file located in the C:\ directory. This is a hidden system file that need the attributes change to unhide and not read only.If you are formilar with this process you will need to set the second OS to drive 1. You can however copy the location of the first drive and change the second setting in boot.ini to drive 1. The first drive should be drive 0. You will also need to change the location of the second drive to it location located on drive 1 Example: D:Windows.
Reboot the system and you are ready.
I had a similar problem with a PC I was repairing. It's the New Technology Loader (no clue what it does). Here's the MS troubleshooting pages: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320397/... and the forum: http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/show...
