What is the cheapest, easiest way to transfer all off your stuff from an old computer to a new one?
Answers:
The easiest way would be to buy an external USB hard drive that is at least as big as your original hard drive. Copy all of your data to the USB drive and then plug the USB drive into your new computer and move all of the stuff over. The problem here is that the USB hard drive is a little more expensive than other solutions but ultimately easier.
The cheapest way would be to burn all of your data to CDs or DVDs and move them over to your new computer. The problem with this is that your data may require many CDs and DVDs and you'll have to be with your computer to swap the CDs/DVDs out when the computer finishes reading each of them. This is much less expensive than the USB hard drive solution but a little more of a pain the neck..
Good luck!!
Hook a secondary hard drive could even be the external one. Transfer the C: drive to the external hard drive and then re-transfer to the new hard drive.
Cheapest way would be to bring your old hardrive to the new system, set it up as a slave drive, and move files from it to your new HD, then either keep it as storage, or get rid of it. Not the easiest way though, unless you have done it before.
The easier way would be to use a USB flash drive. Simply drag and drop files, and move them to the new computer. But depending on the size you get, it could get pricey.
How old are we talking here? There are a variety of ways depending on you computer/budget. You can transfer data via a cd burner. Or alternatively you can use USB and a flash drive or even through a network connection. if they both have firewire then thats quick and extremely easy.If you have none of these then you could take the Hard drive out of the old one , set it as slave and install it into the new computer and then copy away.
If you can connect the two computers, you can use the File and Settings Transfer Wizard
