Where do you plug in a firewire into my computer?

I have windows XP and I thought that it pluged into usb

so I went to the store and got a card bus where does that go?

I have a dell computer

the card bus is a nextech2

IEEE 1394

Oi.. good luck upgrading a dell man. Everything on those pieces of cr... computers are proprietary. Meaning be very careful when switching things around. You might wanna call Dell.. seriously.
Firewire is the same as IEEE 1394.

These days, you probably need to install a Firewire card into a PCI slot.

It's the same slot you would plug an audio or video card into, on the inside of your computer, that lines up with the slots on the back of your computer tower.
look in the back if there is a port for one. if not then o well.if, there is the symbol looks like a top view of a triangular tent frame and there u go

usb and ieee 1394 (firewire) are two different plugs. more than likely if you have gotten your computer recently your computer came with usb 2.0, either in the front of your tower or in the back. you will have to check. installing the card is as easy as reading the directions. but if you have never done this before i would ask for help.
