10/100 LAN Card ??

I know this is to do with the internet. Is it just the hole at the back of the computer, can you also just use a usb port instead with a different cord to connect to a modem? The 10/100 LAN Card doesnt mean that it can be wireless to the internet does it? Thanks.

An Ethernet network adapter (NIC) that supports both 10BaseT (10 Mbps) and 100BaseT (100 Mbps) access methods. At startup, the card auto negotiates the speed based on the adapter at the other end and the hubs, switches and routers in between. All Ethernet cards today are 10/100 cards

Can you use a usb port to connect to a modem:
Yes, but this depends on the modem.The modem must have a usb port on it also. Connection this way is slower than the 10/100 card.

Dose this mean it can be wireless:
No , if you want to connect wirelessly then you need a wireless network adaptor instead of the 10/100 card.
If this is for a laptop it might be built in to the computer already.
the lan card will only accept a lan cable rj45 plug...I could go on, but no, you can't use a USB
Your lan card is just a wired "NIC"- network interface connection- into your pc...you could either use the usb input or nic jack, it depends on the modem- they will both end up doing the same thing...make sure you have the proper drivers installed for either of them. (Also, You would need a "wireless" card, or wireless USB dongle to set up a wireless system.). Whatever option you want.thanks
