Running XP Home Edition. It just disappeared. I uninstalled and reinstalled and the driver that installs is the same with a caution that states it might be corrupted.

I would back up all of your important documents and try to do an OS reinstall. maybe you not getting the correct driver installed.
Did you try online to get the correct driver?
have you looked under the sofa?
