What is the an unproblematic, affordable and out of harm`s way process of making a backup of my files?

I purchased an external complex drive a while back near the intention of copying my files (photos, letters and the likes) to it within order to hold a backup but I realized that copying them straight up would be cumbersome as I append several every week and would need to copy them as I move about along.

Now that I am moving and I have to trust other to work my computer and it's internal hard drive, I really want to find an restructured way of approval them up and preferably being competent to do it periodically either by instructing the computer to backup files that haven't already be backed up or by scheduling it to do it automatically every week or so.

Does anyone own any suggestions? I would really appreciate it if you could formulate your answer in laymen's language as I can get around on a computer but am really not a techie.

Thanks contained by advance (and sorry for the long-winded question).

Answer:
I hold an answer for you: Windows Backup. Click start + programs + accessories + system tools + Backup. I would run in and create a backup employment that backs up to a wallet and compresses the file. Then if you select the "documents and settings" folder adjectives your user data and docs will be save. Go into the options and manufacture sure it's a full back and that you want to overwrite other. You will have to play around near it as I don't have adjectives the settings memorized. This is what I do and it does a great job backup up my docs and photos to my second HDD. As long as you store everything within your My Documents folder and your desktop they will be backed up. I am sure near is a way to agenda the backup using the task scheduler but I basically do mine manually.

Hope this helps.

Depending on your external hard drive, near should be some software that came beside it that allows you to backup your files. For instance, I have an Iomega external rock-hard drive that came beside it, and you have the risk of every week backing up adjectives files, any new files, or a constant directory. You can also encrypt it as well for more deposit. In other words, with the encryption quantity, when you want to access the backed up files, you would want to type in a password to access them.
