How do I connect desktop hard drive to laptop? I NEED ANSWERS QUICK!?
I'm not good in this stuff. HELP!. :(
Answers:
you can go get a 3.5" housing from best buy - pop out the desktop and connect it to your laptop using a usb cable.
steps you should do:
- open your desktop
- unscrew your harddrive
- carry the hard drive to best buy
- ask best buy sales person for an external housing
- make sure you get a usb cable with the housing
- test the usb housing in the store
- go home
- plug in the hard drive to your laptop
your lappy should recognize the hard drive immediately (from my computer screen)
If it's internal, you could buy an external case at a place like Best Buy and connect the hard drive through a usb connection that way.
you need to buy a USB connector thru which you can connect desktop hard drive to any computer.
you either buy an external case or IDE to usb convertor
Well you are stuck because the hard drive must come out of the desktop so that you can use it because you wont be able to power it up. Go to circuit city or staples or something and ask for a hard drive enclosure; basically it is a thing that turns an internal hard drive into an external one. You simply pop the hard drive into the little housing and plug it into the computer, usually by USB, and you have a new external hard drive. Hope this helps.
Laptop harddrives usually don't use the same Connections as a desktop does , but , if it is a PSU problem, try getting a nice and large PSU (I like something atleast 600 Watts). Open up your case , take out the very large "block" , most likley at the top left , that is your Power Supply Unit. Install the new one , and plug in all the molex connectors where they were on then old one.
Good Luck
