I have a samsung cd-rom sn- 124 and it won't read the disk i put in it.?

The disk spins but doesn't pick up speed, it always stops and restarts.

Answers:
Check the date cable that is conected to it. If is installed ok. You have a red part on it that have to go to the pin1 on the interface. If is ok check if is set properly to master or slave or cs acording to your mother board book. If you have a HDD or smth else conected on the same data cable you have to put one to master and the other device to slave. Check the bios if is sees the cd-rom ok. If after all this is still not working i recommend to go with it to waranty to have a look. If is not having any waranty buy a new one is cheaper then fix it. And buy smth else then samsung. TRy LG and get a dvd writer is about $40 or less.
You can try a CD lens cleaner. But seems like the CDROM is dead. Time to get a new one?
