I'm getting a computer from Dell with a PCIe graphics slot but I'm getting an AGP card. How is this possible?
Answers:
Are you certain you are getting an AGP card? There are some models of graphics cards out there that are available in both PCIe and AGP form and they have the same model name and number.
As far as I know, it's not possible, except if the motherboard has both PCIe & AGP ports. I would call Dell & double check on that
some computers have agp video cards built into the motherboard
I'm sorry, but you can't do this. A PCIe and a AGP have different sized slots and different amounts of pins, as well as different position for the pins. AGP saddly is fading away, so I would just get a PCIe or PCI-X card.
They same(above), goes with PCIe and PCI-X cards, they have different slots.
most computers (at least older dell models) have both pci and agp slots. id have to look in it to tell u more but since i cant i suggest calling dell. just tell them what model computer you have and your problem. they'll sort everything out for you
no pci express x16 is a different slot then agp.... and for god sake dont buy dells!
Not sure but some motherboards come with both they are great for upgrading a little bit at a time. Check out this ASRock board:
