Low Pitch humming sound from hard drive?

Also using windows xp

Answers:
This is a real good time to backup your files. If it the hard drive fails it will cost you thousands of dollars to recover your files from the hard drive if they can be recovered at all.

These noises are typical with CD/DVD drives but not hard drives. Your hard drive might be failing. It might also only be a vibration of your computer case, a CPU fan, a video card fan, a power supply fan, or a case fan that is making this noise.

Well humming or just running all the time trying to access information? You can try a hard drive test make make sure the hard drive is functioning correctly and not failing. Again the humming may just be the drive running but it may be failing causing the noise. If the drive fails you can replace it but if you don't back up your information before it fails you will not be able to recover it. So try to this first and then if it is failing back up your stuff swap out the hard drives and reload your information. To back windows you can try a software called GHOST and copy the image. You can try to email http://computervillageusa.com for help and what to buy.
