Sound card issues, can you help?

recently, my operating system (windows xp) crashed, and we needed to install a new operating system, so we got windows vista. the geek squad at best buy made a backup drive of all the files in the my documents folder of our computer. now our sound doesn't work. is it something to do with the sound card? if so, how do i tell what kind i have? and where can i get the drivers for it, the speakers for the computers are sony vaio model vgp-sp3

you need to install drivers for the sound card, check the discs that came with your computer, it shud be there, however it may not include a vista driver, in which case you will have to go to the website of the manufacturer of ur sound card to get the drivers for vista if they exist
