How come the computer keyboard is "QWERTY etc.." instead of "ABCDEF"?
Answers:
Its much easier the way it is now. Take a spare keyboard and pop the keys off and rearrange them and then just do a mock typing and see how bad it would be.
if you had abcd...instead of qwerty you will write harder and your fingers will cross eachother. qwert is more ergonomic and easy to write. No finger will cros another one and you will write faster.
Because keyboards are the most important part of the computer it does not go in aplhabetical order because your fingers have to work hard to type not go a b c d e f g it's simple part of computer tech.
at the beginnin it was qwerty , n wen they decided to hange it to abcd,,, they found it inconvenient bec ppl at that time hav been used to it alrdy
for people who really know how to type, the letters are grouped in this way because the most common letters are closest to the center of the keyboard. people like you and I (who can't type) would find it easier for them to be in alphabetical order.
It was done this way long ago to prevent the keys on a manual typewriter from jamming. The full answer is in the Wikipedia article linked to below.
The man who invented it wanted to give less used letters a chance or something so he deliberately made every second letter a less used one.
It is made for easy fingering since all the fingers have to be used and also all the fingers are of not having equal length. So designed it like that.
Why isn't the spacebar on top of the keyboard? I'm guessing the guy asking the questions types with one finger and even the thought of having the keys at a diagonal like on most gaming keyboards would make his head explode
just to avoid inconveniance
