What does it mean when your told your hard drive is corrupted? How does this happen and how can you correct ?
Answers:
Probably telling you that some files are missing. replaced etc, due to viruses, spyware, badly written software (that replaces your system files and/or delete them during installation/uninstallation). Your Windows could't start?
It can also be caused by failing hard disk drive (resulting in bad/unreadable sectors) or improbable shutdown - using the poweroff button instead of clicking shutdown and waiting for the system to cycle down. Check the ribbon cable - the cable that connect the drive to your motherboard - make sure it is still in good condition.
Doing a hard disk diagnostic can help you find out the 'health' of the hard disk drive. Do you know the brand of your hard disk drive - you can download the tool from the manufacturer's website.

its likely due to disk thrashing, try using check disk if that doesn't help and it is infact a corrupted sector on your hdd then try using spinrite (will move data off bad sectors to good sectors and mark bad ones)
Good Luck
If your hard drive is corrupted- worse case would be that your hard drive failed and need to install a new one. This also means you'd lose whatever data is on it if it isn't backed up on a zip disk or another way. I don't think you could ever avoid it from happening to you- just like nobody can avoid dying. There are lots of situations in life that only God controls
