How can I save a DVD into my PC Hard Drive?
I tried to copy and paste a movie I have on the hard Drive of my laptop, but everytime I try I get a message that certain files can not be saved! looks like it is protected or something, anyone, anyone know how to save it?
Answers:
it isn't as easy as copy / paste
you need to download a dvd clone program such as
DVDFab (platinum or gold)
http://www.dvdfab.com/
or
CloneDVD
http://www.clonedvd.net/
Get DVD shrink. This is a free program that will allow you to get around most encryptions to remove the files from the DVD. You have the option of putting it on your HD or burn to a blank DVD. You also have the option to compress the files to make it fit on a single density disk. I tend to use it to pull just the movie itself while leaving the menus, previews, and extras.
just copy all the files and open them witd vlc player...
or else..., u can use dvd cloner or...
nero visio and copy that dvd in to hard drive..
yeah... well for me i just go into the CD by just exploring it and i copy out the parts (part by part if possible) then i place them in a folder and it works. I have never got a problem with the protected DVDs.
Good luck.
You need to rip them with tools such as DeCSS which removes the copy protection (CSS encryption). Not sure if it's legal, but it works. A quick search in yahoo or google will reveal many tools which will do the trick.
If a DVD is copy-protected, then you can not legally make a copy of it. However, if you want to make a backup of a DVD that is not copy-protected, you can use a free program such as DVD Shrink or DVD Fab Decryptor. I've heard these also work on copy-protected DVDs, but we wouldn't want to do anything illegal, would we?
You may use a DVD Ripper that you can probably find on download.com, although it may cost some money. Probably around 30 bucks. So just go to www.download.com and type in DVD Ripper and it will give you a list of programs and you should be able to rip it to save it onto your PC. Also, some DVDs are protected by copyright so it won't let you, but there are only a fair few. :-) Hope that helps.
dvd shrink
You can forget copy and paste.
If you have Windows Media Player 11, open it. Put the DVD in, select RIP, and you're there.
This is because most DVD movie are encrypted( CSS Copy right protected), you will need to have a 3rd party software to help you, I highly recommend you to use Cucusoft Ultimate DVD Converter, it can convert DVDs to play on almost any portable device including Zen, iPod, iPhone, Zune, PSP, XBOX, video capable MP3 players, video capable mobile phones, Pocket P.C., and so on. Meanwhile, it can also support output almost any audio/video format including Video format(H264, MP4, WMV, AVI, MOV, RM, 3GP, flv, SWF, mpeg-1, mpeg-2, VideoCD, SuperVideoCD, DVD, etc) and Audio format(AC3, AAC, MP2, MP3, MP4, RA, WMA, etc.). With this all-in-one DVD Converter, you can make any your own video from your DVDs. It's the best dvd converter tool I have been used.
