My PC uses a 512MB PC2-4200 ram. If I get a PC2-5300 ram, will it work with my PC?

Answers:
YES and isn't it wonderful that BIOS does everything for you automatically. If your motherboard supports PC2-5300, the new RAM will work at that speed. Otherwise, BIOS will just clock it down to the next supported speed.
Yes. It will clock down to bus speed.
it depends on your motherboard if it can support PC2-5300. consult you mother board manual for more information about its supported RAM.
if you want to find out what ram is compatible go to this website

it will see what ram is compatible with your system

www.crucial.com
Go here and see if your motherboard can handle 5300 ram
http://www.crucial.com
Click on "scan my system" and if it shows 5300 as an upgrade option then your board will run it but it will run at 4200 because ram only runs at the speed of the slowest ram in the system.
