A friend gave me a hp cd writer plus but lost the installation disk. can i still install to my computer?

Answers:
Since you know the brand you are good as GO. You have not mentioned if it is an external CD writer. If it is then your computer should be able to recognise it, but you may have problem with the driver. The best thing to do in this case is to go to the HP-Compaq website and down load the driver for the CD writer, that should take care of you.

However, if the CD writer is internal, in most cases, your computer should be able to recognise it depending you the Operating System version that you are using. In some cases, after the computer recognises the CD driver, it might not recognise the ability to write, (though this is often remote) just go back to the website of HP and download the drivers. You should be OK.

Best of Luck as you fix the problem.
Before you install it, go to HP's website, browse to updates or driver updates, find the specific product, and download the driver.

This should be sufficient.
Try and find the installation software online
