Will replacing a computers motherboard wipe clean the hard drive?

If my computer's motherboard is replaced, will I lose all the data stored on my computer?

Answers:
All your information like pictures, video, documents, programs and your operating system is all on the hard drive which is completely seperate from the motherboard. When running, they're all connected of course but when replacing the motherboard, they are simply disconnected and a new motherboard is put in. When you turn on your computer with a new motherboard it will be like nothing was ever changed.
No because the data is stored on the harddrive.
no sir
No, the hard drive is not a part of the motherboard. Your data will still be present on the hard disc drive.
No. The worst will be that the drivers may need to be changed.
no because data is not stored on the board, but rather your harddrive..
no all your data will still be on your HDD.
no it wont but make sure that the harddrive is compatible you cant put IDE into a SATA Slot vica verca. :-)
Not in the least. Just keep the computer unplugged and keep yourself static free while doing the replacement.

Do you want to wipe the HDD? DBAN is a great program for this, Google "Derick's Boot and Nuke".
no. the HDD is separate from the motherboard. the mobo just contains all of the chip sets/processors needed to boot the HDD. it also has the ports to plug peripherals and other devices into th pc.

good luck. hope this helps. email me for more assistance.
Not at all. If u change the motherboard what ur doing is changing the piece of hardware which has the Processor and RAM and other devices which are connected to it.
All the data, Windows and other files are stored in the Hard Disc. So dont worry ur data is safe..
no becuase the information on your harddrive being stored has nothing to do with your motherboard.
No ,there separate. If your replacing the mother board with exact same mother board booting will not be a problem as all drivers are the same. If its a differant mother board then before you uninstall the hard drive down load the drivers for your new mother board and install them just before you remove the hard drive It will then boot when attached to new mother board
No, replacing the motherboard will not "wipe clean the hard drive".

However, depending on the new motherboard requirements, it may be necessary to install new drivers software after everything is reassembled to fully realize the mobo's capabilities. It may also be necessary to make adjustments to the BIOS settings (an acronym for "Basic Input/Output System" that is built into the motherboard) so that it recognizes the devices installed on your computer and sets them up for optimal use. If you are not familiar with BIOS settings, it is best to find someone is. Otherwise, changing certain settings may result in unwanted problems or in the system not working at all.
