Usually a masses finned metal structure which draws heat from an attached piece of involved equipment like a CPU and dissipates that via the fins. ~
There are a coiuple of heatsinks contained by your computer. It is a block of metal with a adherent attached to it to pull bake away from what ever it is on.
It's a block of metal (usually aluminum or copper...or both) that sits on top of the processor and draws boil away from it. A fan usually sits resting on it.

A fry sink is a device which absorbs ample quantities of roast and is attached to a device which produces heat so that the bake sink will heat up while keeping the device generate the heat cool. Fans are usually attached to draw the fry out of the heat sink so that it will hang on to functioning. Sometimes, the presence of fins is enough to cool stale the heat sink. If you ever carry to see a first generation VW Beetle engine or even an nouns cooled motorcycle engine, the fins on the cylinder heads are acting as warmness sinks.
It's a spikey metal thing, usually placed over your cpu, which allows for maximum grill conduction/convection so that it pulls heat away from the processor and into the atmosphere where it is blown out the rear by the fans.
