Do I need a new mouse for my PC?

Quite often the pointer on my PC screen doesn't move as quickly as it should do when I move the mouse. Have taken the ball out of bottom of mouse and cleaned it, and have also cleaned the mouse mat, but it still happens. It's only about 1 year old. Do I need a new one or is there something I can do?

Answers:
ball mouses are not as responsive as the newer optical mice
the problem you are having is typical of most ball mouses,as the dust and grease accumilates on the ball,it becomes more and more unreponsive and starts to drag and the mouse becomes harder and more annoying to use
so yes you do need to buy a new one,and they are quite inexpensive to buy, even wireless mice
however the Mikomi Multi-Direction Optical Mouse.(http://www.argos.co.uk/static/product/pa... a excellent all round mouse with 2 buttons and a scroll wheel,it uses a usb interface, however most usb mice come with usb to ps2 adapters so you can use it in your ps2 socket
unlike ball mice, these optical mice use a optic ray that bounces of any flat surface to give you 100% accuracy and performance
i bought a optical mouse 3 years ago, still working as well now as when i bought it
hope this helps
good luck mate!
go to mouse in control panel and adjust speed of mouse pointer.
Open the Mouse control panel, and click on the pointer options tab, and change pointer speed.
I think its time to move on from the old - you have a ball mouse - they often get clogged up and they can get filthy within a couple of days/weeks, so I would recomend investing in an optical mouse. They are much better and move much faster.

Cheers.

Mice with balls are not as good as the optical ones!! Spend a few quid on a new optical one. Good luck!
