What type of Memory Should i get?

I'm goin to Best Buy today and i need to know what type of memory will work on my computer, my puter is an emachines T3508 and it already had 512mb of memory but i need more. Getting more memory will help my computer go faster right? and ya what kind of memory will work on my puter?

Answers:
DDR 400 (PC 3200)

Instead of buying some RAM at best buy try www.newegg.com to save money. Memory is easy to install.
http://www.ehow.com/how_895_install-ram.
Your PC will accept up to 2GB of RAM.
Go to www.crucial.com and have your computer scanned and it will tell you what memory is best for you.
512MB DDR (1 × 512MB) 400MHz (PC3200) is what you have.

Just tell the guy you need DDR PC3200 memory. Make sure you only get 512MB sticks (max yours can handle)
it has to match the bus speed of your pc - check the speed of the memory already installed!

Hi,
I had the same issue not too long ago. Yes, memory can greatly effect how your computer runs.

http://www.crucial.com

This site will tell you what kind of memory will work in your computer down to the tee. Since many computers will run several different kinds (different speed and those of different price ranges) check this page out.

It will almost certainly give you more information specific to your machine than what you'll be able to find on here.

Good luck.
No do not go to anyone's web site except eMachines. They will be able to tell you the type of memory for your machine and how it must be installed. Call them if you don't understand... it is crucial that you get it right, or your computer may not "see" the new memory. Yes it will make your computer go faster SOMETIMES... but only when you reach that point where you've used up all the memory and it starts to use the hard drive as temporary memory. 512MB is a little low for most modern applications, but I have a Dell laptop at home with 512MB and it works fine for most things.
