is it possible to upgrade the video card to support dual monitors? I understand alot of upgrades void the warranty, but for this particular addition, i would be fine with that.
Also, is there any drawback from using my hd lcd monitor has a video display for the mini?

Yea its possible, though you should make sure you have enough power on the 12V rail of your PSU.
And theres no major drawbacks, As long as the video card can cope with the HD screen.
