How to cool xfx 8600GT ?

Hello,
I have a 2 year old PC . its config is :
p4 3 GHz HT presscot
intel d101ggc mobo on radeon x200 chipset
1gb ddr400

About a month back i bought :
xfx 8600GT and
a 450watt psu which delivers 19A on 12 volt rail .

While playing carbon ( with cabinet closed ) , it get a peak of 94C and most of the time the temp of the gpu around 85C .
if i keep the case open , i get a peak of 89C . This is high , i know,

i had a stupid 300W smps and i changed it to the one i wrote above . i put a 120mm exhaust fan to my cabby ( before that the peak temp was 105C ) .

What can i do to reduce the temp further ? Is my g-card faulty ? should i get it replaced or should i buy a new cabinet .

Thanks.

Answers:
Yeah dude, that's running way too hot for my liking.

75-80 should be about the absolute MAX you want things running at, and the 8600gt chipset is known for being quite a cool GPU (65-70).

I'd contact your retailer and ask for a replacement or refund

Hope this helps

Leave your case open, plain and simple. It may be faulty, however I doubt it. XfX is automatically over clocked so they will be hotter then the regular ones. You could also replace the fan on the graphics card.
try to get a heatsink for the g-card or you can buy an 80mm fan for the side if case has an opening for it. if that doesnt work you could try a liquid cooling unit. they sell them for CPUs and i think they have them for g-cards too.
