What I call for to know in the past buying a unusual laptop?

I know I own to buy 1GB of RAM (I can afford a 2GB of RAM, perferct for The Sims 2 performance and various other things)

A 259 Video card Nidia, yep...
and what else?

what about the memory? hardrive? something in the order of CORE 2 or whatever, I lately don't know anything about PC Just strike and a video card, nuthing else.. but wich are the other goods and things I inevitability to know?
