Analyze or straght to defragment???
Answers:
If you haven't done it in a while, just go straight to defragment. There's no harm in doing so.
Analyze 1st that way it organzies and then defrag but make sure you do it over night that way when you wake up u can use it!! =)
the only function analyze serves is to see if you need to defrag as it will tell you after analyzing. its just so you dont defrag for nothing. if you have no space and cant upgrade with additional hard drive you should run disk clean up and try deleting some stufff you dont need.
You can analyze first and it will tell you the need to defrag. If you go straight to defrag it will analyze and defrag. Since you are having space problems just go straight to defrag.
if you go to defragment it should analyze its self
You must first analyse the C:\ and D:\ drive to calculate if they do in fact need to be defragmented, once you have analysed the drives it will tell you one of two things,
1, your C: drive needs to be defragmented or
2, your C: drive does not need to be defragmented,
Hope this information helps you, good luck
Spend some time deleting everything you no longer use or need. Do a disc clean first and get rid of all those temp files etc., then straight to defrag.
If you analyse first invariably it says defrag not necessary, but remember the higher gb your drive, even a 1% fragmentation could be quite large so I would just go straight for defrag. It's going to analyse anyway.
Go straight to Defrah and click onto Analyze. The result will tell you if the computer needs a Defrag. If it does then click Defrag
Delete stuff you don't need or use then defrag.
Analyse is done automatically as part of defrag.
It could take some time to complete, depends on size of hd, be patient...
if you are using windows xp then when you click on defrag it will analyze the disk before it starts to defrag...
