Answers:
There should be no compatibility problem at all.
Are they by any chance trying to sell you a more expensive vid card?
It may be they are using an inadequate power supply, the 6800Gt while not as bad as some more modern cards, is still a fairly power hungry beast!
Using a Sli motherboard Doesn't mean you have to use Sli compatible vid cards, this is only an option. Of course if you want to use Sli you will need two identical,Sli compatible cards (and a suitable power supply)
If it is all in one compatible card or PCI Plus card It will work on any mother board But It is rarely available
hi daz,i can see the problem here, some of the geforce 6800gt,s are not sli compatible being that they havent got the bridge connector slot on the card however the Leadtek PCI-E GeForce 6800GT (http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productin... a example of a 6800gt that is,and this card comes as a package of 2 cards for only £116,which is quite a bargain, the 6800gt,s in pci-e are very good cards, and together they will produce some acceptable frame rates
all you need to look out for is the bridge slot on the card, and also if a card is s.l.i compatible it will come with a sli bridge connector as well as other connectors
have you tried the 8600gts(http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productin... of these are only around £150 and wil be much better than the 6800,s as well as also being direct x 10 and pixel and shader model 4.0
it will also make your p.c rig future proof, and ready for all this years games such as bioshock, crysis and hellgate london
good luck daz!
email Nvidia and they will giv you the correct answeeeeeeer...

Yes i have one myself except with a EVGA geforce 7900GTX and since both cards are pci-e and the crosshair has 2 pci-e slots there shouldn't be a problem
