What is taking up so much space on my hard drive!?!?

I can not figure this out. I have a cleaning program that I have used for years. I generally have kept my hard drive at almost half full. For months now, my hard drive is only about 30% empty and I can not figure out why. I have cleaned out so many programs and files and nothing seems to be making a major difference. I have manually cleaned out the temporary files...from everywhere. I have had the computer try to figure out what the issue is. I have an external hard drive and it seems no matter how much stuff I move to it, the free space on the hard drive barely budges. Today I went through my C drive and deleted as many things that I could find that I felt safe enough to delete. I ran the cleaning program and even shredded, but it barely made any room. I have defragmented, that didn't help at all.

In addition, I am having the same problem with my work computer. I can't figure it out. Does this have something to do with my computer being almost 7 years old?

you sure you didn't install a program or game that took up a very big space?

i'd check the Control Panel>Add or Remove Progams to see if there's any program that took up a lot of space.
Defragment at least once a week ...
There's a nice utility called DiskData that will analyze your drive and show you which are the areas hogging your space. I think it has a free 30-day trial; after that you have to license it. It's very fast and easy.

just go to settings > control panel, Add /remove programs and delete programs that u dont have no use for. thats just 1 way.

You can even get an external drive to save your data on also.
Yes, get that program that analysis the usage on your drive. Unless you know already, It's a pain to figure out otherwise.

And a special LOL to the tech specialist who thinks a defrag helps with disk space issues. What company you work for so I never buy that kind of computer...
