What would be the best cpu to buy? a dual core 3GHz or a quad core 2.4 GHz? Mainly for gaming, video use, etc
Answers:
Well fortunately someone is finally here to give a decent answer. I assume you are comparing the E6850 to the Q6600. For gaming, internet, and general computer use, go with the dual core. It you plan to do multithreaded tasks, like media editing/encoding, or 3D rendering, go with the quad core.
GAMING -> GET AMD!
Openly Known Fact.
check out the bench mark graphs on www.tomshardware.com
i would probaly think that it would be the more powerful
Mathematically speaking, quad-core is better. However, look out for your next electricity bill.
The quad core!
You can have as fast a computer as you like but without a good graphics card its a waste of time for gaming.
the brand new Quad Core but compare prices and ask the seller on thenphone what one eats up the most power, cost may also be an issue.

Hope this can help you de...
hv a nice day.
Good Luck... ...
AMD Clawhammer 42000+ 64bit.
depends what system you have and how much you want to spend. you can get a quad core for about £170 now.. im betting you're on single core so you need to see what your motherboard will support, otherwise you'll be upgrading big time. quad core is definalty future proof and will easily overclock to 3ghz. need to know more about your current system and your budget! but 4 cores will be better then 2 any day!
