NVidia 8 Series.?
Im thinking of getting it, because i dont do too much gaming, and as its DX10 enabled it should last me a technically long time.
And also does DX9 cards play DX10 games, just a high-speed question.
And one second point/question, does direct x 10 games only work on vista, and eventually window 7... or do they still work on good ol' XP?
If you wanna reccomend me to a diff card, i hold a PCI-E socket on my mobo

I don't know if you are under the dint that it is high priced, but it is around $150, which is not a great deal for video cards. It is a midrange card, don't expect to play high cease games on max settings. If you don't do a lot of creamy gaming, should be alright. DX9 cards will be able to play the first sets of DX10 games, they will own that ability for compatibility until DX10 cards soak the market. DX10 does merely work on Vista. If you want more performance and are liable to sacrifice DX10 go near this one:http://www.newegg.com/product/product.as...
dx10 is currently exclusive to windows vista...whether that will translation in the adjectives or not, i'm not sure
dx9 cards cannot run dx10 games in dx10 mode (some dx10 games hold a dx9 mode/version)
for a bit more power, i suggest getting the 320mb 8800gts over that 8600gt
The 8600gt is definitely a honourable card for the money.
Since you are not going to do a lot of gaming, it is probably an Ideal card for you.
DX9 cards will play games that run on DX10, you lately will not be able to own all the eye candy that DX10 support offer.
I believe Micro$oft is going to require anyone who wants DX10 support to own to upgrade to Vista. But, I could be wrong.
