NVidia 8 Series.?
Im thinking of getting it, because i dont do too much gaming, and as its DX10 enabled it should last me a fairly long time.
And also does DX9 cards play DX10 games, just a quick question.
And one last point/question, does direct x 10 games only work on vista, and eventually windows 7... or do they still work on good ol' XP?
If you wanna reccomend me to a diff card, i have a PCI-E socket on my mobo

I don't know if you are under the impression that it is high priced, but it is around $150, which is not a lot for video cards. It is a midrange card, don't expect to play high end games on max settings. If you don't do a lot of heavy gaming, should be alright. DX9 cards will be able to play the first sets of DX10 games, they will have that ability for compatibility until DX10 cards saturate the market. DX10 does only work on Vista. If you want more performance and are willing to sacrifice DX10 go with this one:http://www.newegg.com/product/product.as...
dx10 is currently exclusive to windows vista...whether that will change in the future or not, i'm not sure
dx9 cards cannot run dx10 games in dx10 mode (some dx10 games have a dx9 mode/version)
for a bit more power, i suggest getting the 320mb 8800gts over that 8600gt
The 8600gt is definitely a good card for the money.
Since you are not going to do a lot of gaming, it is probably an Ideal card for you.
DX9 cards will play games that run on DX10, you just will not be able to have all the eye candy that DX10 support offers.
I believe Micro$oft is going to require anyone who wants DX10 support to have to upgrade to Vista. But, I could be wrong.
