All Core 2 duo's flog out pentiums. Pentium's were failure at life, don't consent to the number's confuse you. 2 cores beat's 1 core anyday, because of the method of threading.
The more cores the better, but Pentium D's are a moment ago 2 pentium 4's put together...they stink. the architecture of the Pentium 4's cannot outmatch even pentium 3's. Pentium 4's ARE faster than 3's, but Pentium III's architecture could have smoothly been made much faster. Now, AMD equally, has Dual-Cores, that aren't as apposite as Intel's. For example, let's say near is an Intel Core 2 duo, that costs $200. To get the equivalent within starting speed, you probably have to pay cheque $300 for an AMD.
Now, AMD's can't overclock to save their lives. Overclocking is a method computer builder's use to force their CPU's to run at a faster speed consequently what it was supposed to be. This can also be done for Graphics cards, but singular do this if you have nice fan's approaching Zalman fans.
Now newly remember, Core 2 Duo's of ANY kind are better than Pentium 4's of any quality.
Bottom line, 2 cores are better than 1.

oh dear immediately we are getting into microarcutecture, well the pentium 4 is faster but adjectives things have to ops from matching excution core but with core 2 duo but things can evolve in staunch excution chambers making respectively op faster on the core though that said they will get hotter which may not be a worthy thing i don't know mmmm
I would prefer the Core 2 duo. It is more reorganized. And don't let the Mhz Ghz fool you. As a 2.4 Ghz AMD 64 will whoop the P4 3.0 Ghz ***. Its more or less doing more at once and that's where the Core 2 duo excels.
