I'm trying to build a new computer and i can't seem to pick a video card. cost wise would it be smarter to get a 8800GTS or just get a 8600 and buy another one to SLI later on when i need some more power or does SLI really help that much?

SLI does rly nothing until games are going to be so graphically demanding that you will need 2 or more graphic cards on one screen. I suggest 8800GTS, im getting that one as well for my gaming build. Make sure to get a good CPU as well as good ram so you can push your pc to the ultimate. the 8600 in SLI is still weaker in comparison to just one 8800GTS . get the 8800GTS. Glad i can help.
