you dont know if its broken and thats why there giving it away really cheap.
none, you never know if something is wrong with any of them. dont got the money to buy a new one get a job. Simple.
Alienware Laptops are the best, but watch out for one with sligth damage cause the damage could be more than slight u just can't see it.

You can get a good laptop directly from dell or apple or wherever - even if you get a refurbished from them, it comes with guarantee, etc. Check out their website and look for refurbished.
I wouldn't buy one on eBay unless I only wanted something to do basic internet activity and word processing / office stuff. Or I found a really good deal from a _trusted_ seller. Even then, it's seldom cost effective to get better than a PIII used.
These days you can buy very good laptops for $499 / $599 that will handle everything the average non-gamer needs.
you should definitely buy a white apple laptop. not only are they absolutely GORGEOUS, they are wonderful laptops, they have so many great features, all in all, they are the best laptops ever! but they are pretty pricey, so if you want to save some money but still get a pretty good laptop, the classic dell laptop is great, too. avoid cheap brandds like sony. though the prices on sony laptops may be great, they are horrible laptops, they break easily, and they are slow and they also arent very pretty!

Naturally Dell is a freat product. I also like the Sony Vaio. Both of these are outstanding companies. Im not sure what you are using it for, but you want to find something fairly new. Mem. capacity atleast 2GB. Running XP. As far as the eBAY things, research pricing from completed listings as to what you are looking for. Always review a sellers feedback. Look at the items they have sold comparted to what you are buying. I do alot of buying and selling there. My thoughts on buying something of this value from eBAY are ask the seller any questions you can think of, return policy, etc... Make sure of product by researching online. -check out if the battery is still woking fine...
-RAM at least 512 (but 1GB recommended)
-CPU at least 1.2Ghz but a 2.56Ghz recommended (altough a 3.4Ghz is the best)
-monitor still working without any problems...(flickr, dead pixels, scrathes)
-keyboard works fine
-mousepad is clean
-fans working
-no busted, scrathed or damaged...

Actually, i do not recommend to buy any pc on E-bay.
First, if you dont know what you want you will probably loose your money.
Before answering your question, it would of help if you told us what do you need it for, but since you didn't i guess you need for home basis.
So you will need a this for a basic pc.
Althought, a lot of people dont like Windows Vista, i do, and i do recomend it, even if Windows says that to have WV on your pc you will need 1 GB of RAM, i have a Duo Processor with 512 MB of Ram and it works fine. no problem.
so. Duo processor 512MB, OPS Windows Vista Home Basic, 128 MB video card, 80GB of memory, Wireless card, the rest is just add on, but this is for a good basic pc, i do not know how much you would like to invest, but i do recomend Toshiba, Sony, HP and Dell, i have work with them and work great.
But, i wouldn't buy on E-bay just for the tech support, go to the main web site and buy you a new one with a guarantee.
the best laptop you could buy is hp compac nx6110 its very easy to use and light .also the batteries is longlasting
You shouldn't buy a laptop from eBay. Instead, you should buy a laptop from a reliable site, like the Mex Shop. I would highly recommend a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.
