My laptop is running VERY slowly all of a sudden - while online or not. What could it be and how can I fix it?

Could be a few things, but the following will speed things up.
Go to
http://mybranding.info/free.php... and then download cc or any of the reg cleaners (you might want to grab AVG free antivirus as well)
When you have the reg cleaner of your choice install and run (may take a bit)
Then - run your anti virus software full scan (WILL take some time) - if you do not have one make sure you get the AVG Free .
Then - when all this is done if you want to check for spyware (and you should) go to http://mybranding.info/googlepack.php... download and install and this will give you the very good spyware doctor free version (and a bunch of other useful stuff!) run it.
Finally - if you want to go the whole hog and surf quicker too then go to http://mybranding.info/firefox.php... and get the browser that google believe is the fastest and most secure on the net.
Once you have done all of this you should be better than you were before it all went wrong!

Hi, the instant messaging software has probably loaded spyware and malware and some viruses to. Download Spybot for spyware and malware from:
http://www.download.com
After that download AVG antivirus free to check for viruses from:
http://free.grisoft.com
If u want u can visit Microsoft's:
http://onecare.live.com
Run the free scanner and it will remove all viruses, spyware, trojans, registry erros and make ur pc as good as new.

did you uninstall the instant messenger? or just delete the program? because if you uninstall it then it shouldn't be a problem but if you just deleted the program its possible that its still running on your comp. if you just deleted it, i would suggest downloading it and installing it again, then going to your control panel and click on add/remove programs, and make sure you uninstall it this time, but an instant messenger program would probably not freeze a comp anyway, its probably something else
what do you mean when you say you deleted it? Do you know the difference between uninstalling a program and deleting it? If you deleted the program without uninstalling it, you need to install it again, then uninstall it properly, and pray that this fixes everything.
