An inexpensive laptop?

Im looking for a laptop (or even a home PC) that is about 350 or less. I dont need a giant hard drive or anything or windows vista. Are there any laptops at that price?

Answers:
I actually paid $559 for my HP laptop. I will tell you how I did that and you can apply that idea for your search and possibly get a better price than me. I went to Office Depot and looked at the small selection of computers they offer. When I saw the HP I liked I asked when the new version of this computer will arrive at the store. They told me that the new version would arrive in a couple of weeks. I wanted to know this because if the store has a new version comming in, they sell the previous model with a lot of discounts and rebates. If you take advantage of the rebates you save a lot of money. When i bought my computer I took advantage of $300 in rebates and sale price. Litterally the computer was selling 2 weeks later for $300 less just because the new version was arriving soon. You just have to be clever to make this work. And as soon as you notice the sale, buy, because they only offer the rebates for about a week.
ebay...most new pcs and laptops come with vista pre-installed nowadays, thus adding to overall cost. so search ebay, amazon, or any online shopping sites to find one to fit your needs
I think the cheapest laptop you are going to get will be around $400.

If you need to spend less then you will have to go used (ebay, craigslist etc)
You should get a new one, and here's why.

If a half-way decent laptop cost $1,000 new and lasts 5 years, that's $200 per year. If you buy a 4 year old laptop for $200, it might not even last 1 year. So you see, it's the same price. But it is difficult to find a decent old laptop for under $400.

If you look at the HP website, you can get a very basic laptop for around $400. With Windows Vista, you will need more RAM, so expect the spend around $500. Brand new will last longer.

Look for a desktop PC. You can find retail stores like Staples, that will sell you a brand new one for under $700. You might even find a deal for about $500. But desktops last much longer. Most will last 9 years or even longer. That means that a desktop is probably good for around $100 per year for it's life.

Keep shopping around. Visit many retailers, including Wal-mart.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
350 or less. Thats a tough one because these days everyone is putting on software that drives up that price. Like the other guy said, ebay and the like would be the best place. Use caution though when buying from ebay because computers may not be what they seem. Also, if you are tech savvy, go to tigerdirect.com or newegg.com and purchase a bare bones kit and build it yourself. Saves money on labor and software and will work just as well.
