If I purchase a laptop from us like DELL or hp,will i get the efficient after sales service in india?

2 gb ram is pretty much commonplace, also 4 gb
160 gb with 7200 rpm hard drive too available & the 17" models feature upto 250 gb
now, if you can be more specific ... which make / model
as regards warranty coverage in india, for a usa purchase
only select high end laptops offer global coverage, mostly business segment
else, you will need to transfer ownership to india & be prepared to shell out approx. 10k for extending coverage to india

if coverage desired is specific to india, cheaper option might be buying it out locally

From DELL, most likely, from HP, you cant get decent support IN the U.S.

Check their reputation first, ask costumers, visit their office, workshop and do your home work
Because they are supposed to give you support, all of these brands comes with international warranty, But will your country agent honor this warranty and not to add extra expenses on your Bill,? That is the Question

Please note that any MNC across the world would support only hardware related issues and not your application support related issue.. i.e. if your TFT is not working, they would replace / repair under warranty period but if your MS outlook is not working, you need a partner from whom you have purchased the laptop.
As dell operates direct to customer, getting support on applications would be an issue.
one more thing, there are laptops available in India with 2 GB RAM and 160 GB HDD, you can look for Pavilion Series of laptops from HP.
If you are in India and buying from abroad, you also need to make sure that you are buying with Global warranty otherwise here no one would support for even hardware also.

Yes. But not for HP models which are not manufactured here in India. For Dell, after sale service is available because they directly market the product in India and have service centres.
