Best laptop in terms of reliability?
I do not want any money to go into this subject.
I respect everyone's opinion, however, if you want to answer this question, if you dont mind, please quote some facts and figures to support your answer. Self made graphs or presentations are also appreciated.
Just incase, let me explain what I mean a bit on the word "reliability".
Reliability of a laptop company will include:
1) Does their computers break very often? and reqire repair?
2) Are customer service any good?
3) If you know, generally speaking, are good quality components used or value stuff that is not that great eg. RAM, HDD, battery.
4) If components does need replacing, are the components easily accessable ie. not hidden under the keyboard etc.
Thanks for any reply,

I used to have a tiny (10") sony vaio in the past and it got roughed up a bit and I when I brought it to a pc repair shop they said the cost of repairing it wouldn't be worth it since the parts inside were hard to get. Since then I got an HP dv1000 and i've had no problems with it. Customer support is good and the parts are cheap and easy to find. If you want a laptop where it is easy to replace parts, don't get an ultraportable laptop or those super-thin kinds like vaios since the parts are usually made for that specific laptop and any part is going to be very expensive to replace. They also have real bad battery life.
If you want something rugged check out the panasonic toughbooks, you can pour water on them and drop them, and they will still work.
According to Consumer Reports which had reports on 100,000 plus laptops and desktops, the brands needing the fewest repairs were:
Sony, Lenovo,Compaq, Dell,Toshiba, Apple, Gateway, and HP (in that order). Apple was listed as the top tech support on line or on phone
