Is this a Toshiba laptop? Anyway, the disc you are trying to use is attempting to restore a Ghost image to your complicated drive so that the laptop will be restored to the way it be when you first acquired it. It is possible that when the representation was made that an faster form of Ghost was used that required an A:\ drive. Since you don't enjoy an A:\ drive it can't find the image. Two things I might suggest:
1) progress into your Bios and select Boot from CD.

2) If that doesn't work, use Windows Explorer to look at the disc. Look at the subdirectories and write them down. See if there is a delivery file surrounded by the root of the CD - it might even say aloud autoexec.bat. Then, read what it says. It may indicate what subdirectory or folder, the delivery is calling for. If you can find it, then you can try the following. At a Dos prompt type:
subst a: d:\mark of your subdirectory. What this does is to direct the program that when it reads a:\ as a drive memorandum, it will go to the disc drive and subdirectory as if it were a:\
Nortons image is a backup program, and most of the time to retrieve a backup, you must first boot from floppy :A: drive-( a pre-made Ghost floppy) to prepare the PC for the backup on a set of CD's...its looking for its boot floppy on drive A.
