They vend external usb hard drive housing that take laptop hard drive. You can plug your matured hard drive into on of these. Or you can even go and get adaptors to make them IDE drives for installing into desktop systems. 10-15 bucks.
Got mine from ebay for 6

If you need any assistance with it, basically ask
Yes you can do so if the drive is not really dead. You involve an adaptor like this.

But why do you assume the laptop is dead? could be something simple such as a desperate memory chip.

Look on eBay and buy a laptop drive to USB external overnight case... you plug the laptop drive into it and it gives you a USB nouns. So in effect you convert your comatose laptop's drive into a USB external drive. Costs under lb20 from Hong Kong.
Or you can bring back laptop to desktop converters... lets you plug a laptop disk into a desktop computer.
The above are true for IDE laptop drives. If your laptop is SATA (it's probably not... they are possible still to be under warranty) after the laptop drive will just plug into a desktop.
Why is your laptop unmoving? If the disk has died, in that is no point in buying an external defence... it's still a dead disk!
Does the HD still spin? If not, you'll probably have need of to refer to a data taking back service. This can get pricey. IF it does spin, you own a couple of options. You can overt the laptop up and pull the drive out and connect it to your PC or another computer. There are adapters available for this. Or you could create a Live disc if the laptop will boot to at least the BIOS. You a moment ago need to set the BIOS to boot from disc. The Live CD act as an OS for you and you can then access the HD to copy files over to some other medium. I have used the Ubuntu Linux Live compact disc and you can get it at www.ubuntu.com. Good luck.
Howdy!
Yes within are adapters that allow you to connect your laptop drive to your system. The drive has to be on a canal by itself, since it is set as master. You can also put the adapter on a USB enclosure. Or simply send it to someone that does that type of work. You can restore your health data... files, pictures, songs, but not programs.
