Hp dv6000se?
Answers:
If you are using Windows xp you have a couple of choices.
1. Restore your laptop from the Mfg's cd that came with your laptop. (this will format everything like it was brand new from the factory) Be careful because all of your information will be deleted.
2. From the start button go to control panel/ System/hardware/Device manager. Click on your network adapters. If the card shows up them you may just need to reload the drivers, you can search the Internet for drivers, or if you have the drivers on a cd then use them.
3.From the start button go to control panel/add hardware and search for new hardware. This should detect your Wlan card and install the drivers that are needed.
I hope this helps.
Can you do a restore to before it stopped working?
Are you sure that is the correct model?
I think if you have the HP advisor sofware you can use it to fix it?
go to the HP website, and find ur laptop model number and download the driver for the built in wireless card.
goodluck.
like above - get the driver from HP. At the same time leave them an e-memo to let them know your hurting.
Another alternative to try is to locate any existing drivers for the device and Unistall them - then reboot. Its possible XP will redetect it as 'new hardware' and do a search for new drivers.
Another terrible fear is that if your laptop may have experienced a power surge at any point. Modems and other internet cards seem very susceptible to surge damage in my experience. Half my county lost their modems back in 02' when one lightning storm hit around the region of our Power Plant.
If your card is removable try testing a friend or co-workers card in your machine and vice versa to ensure it isnt dead.
