Laptop getting hot helppp?

i have a dell inspiron that when it was brand new got really hot all the time. I kept it on a desk and it actually warped the paint on the desk. i used to put bags of frozen peas or frozen candy bars under it cause i was in college and needed it for everything. i called dell and they said the internal fan wasn't coming on so they sent me a box to mail it to them in. they fixed it for free and now it's ok. still gets hot, but runs fine. also, there are these things that you can get to go under laptops that are flat but have fans that blow upwards.
so basically, sounds like your fan is not working and i do recommend dell for your next one.
try to get a laptop with a mobile technology. you should place your laptop on a desk..cuz this way you will allow the fans to blow away the heat..if u want to change ur laptop try to get one with an intel core duo processor, or u can just get a stand for ur laptop that has fans in it to cool off the laptop
