One of two usb ports is broken on my laptop?
Answers:
Having a PCMCIA CardBus is a better option but more expensive. Using a hub with 4 ports plugged in the lone usb port of the laptop will share the resources of that specific port to the number of output you will attach. If you attach an external harddisk, printers, camera and others this will make the bandwith pre occupied which may take some time and will slow down the process. The PCMCIA has his own system which balance each port to give a reliable bandwith.
Goodluck.
Use the USB HUB .. it's cheaper and both are just as fast..
Use a USB hub that is attached by a cord. Then you can sit it wherever you want and plug anything into it. They sell them at Wal-Mart for under $20.
They should both do the same thing and I would recommend the cardbus option because you aren't going to strain a single usb port by dividing amongst all of the new ports. The cardbus should be fine and it seems more convenient to you.
Get a USB bus that provides its own power source that way.
