Just wondering. is it usually a better deal to get a laptop online or at your local store?

Answers:
A laptop is a very personal and important purchase, I'd say go to a small local store for the personal touch from people who really care about their work, so you can have it configured for what you need, not just what some big discount chain or online site wants to cram down your throat.

If your machine is a Windows machine, be sure you get a certified copy of windows

Stay away from Windows Vista, nobody I know that has it is happy.

Good luck!
It depends on what kind of deal you find.
Local Store. A LOT more trustworthy.
That depends. If you just want a standard laptop, then you'll probably be able to find a good deal at a local store. But if you want to customize what's loaded on the laptop and what type of hardware it comes with then you're going to have to go the online route to get exactly what you want.
