1000$ Budget and looking for a place to get a good gaming laptop.?

Well, I have about 1Thousand dollars and I'm looking for a laptop that is capable of playing most modern games. I don't know a whole lot about laptops because I normally focus on desktops so I'm not sure what kind of laptops are out and about these days. I'm looking for one that can play games without to much of a problem. The game I'm really looking forward into playing on the laptop is City of Heroes. So, if anyone can tell me of a good laptop I can get around 1,000$ then that would be awesome. Thanks.

City of heros is no longer high up there in demand so most newer laptops should play it. But you will need to double check that your laptops video chipset is compatibal even if the video device in the laptop is strong enough it might not be fully supported.

Besides that you normally need to pay two times the amount on a laptop. So a $1000 laptop is only about as good as a $500- maybe $600 desktop which should be enough for that game anyhow.

If you really want a gaming system you will want to get a desktop. For example very good gaming desktops cost around $1300-$2500 and if you want a laptop thats about the same your looking at $5000+

But $1000 should get you a laptop that can play city of heros but future games will probably be out of the question because laptops have about half the life as a desktop because of the limited upgrade ability.

Ekee <--- a $1000 alienware laptop would be terrible. About 5 months ago the cheapest desktop I saw on there site was over $1500 and the cheapest laptop was like $3000.

There very best laptops were around $7000+ and were only as good as $2000 desktops.

Maybe things have changed a lot lately but alien ware stuff is the most expensive you can get unless you look really hard. Plus
most good in store laptops are over $1200 so I cannot believe an alien ware laptop being any ware near $1000

Well a gaming laptop will run you more than 1000 dollars. Im not sure what the specs are to run City of Heroes but here is what I would recommend to someone in your position. First, get 2 gb of RAM minimum and more if it fist in the budget. Next, go for a model that will have more than the onboard or low level video card. You may not find a machine in your price range with that option but search in stores and online and you will probably find one. Next, get a dual core processor, preferably Intel based. It should be clocked around 2.0 ghz minimum. Also, a bigger size screen and maybe even a widescreen would be a good thing to have also. To round all of this out, an HDD around 160 GB and a DVD+/- RW DL would be nice. That might be more than 1000 but shop around and wait for sales and use the internet and stores.
Well, you wont be able to get a gaming laptop for 1000 dollars that is capable of playing most modern games. Sadly, to run any games (well) you are looking at about a 2500 to 3000 dollar laptop.
