Why i cant use voice chat?

i have vista premium , when i installed messenger8, I can chat but no voice the talk button is always disable. i have a notebook HP with windows vista pre .

If you do have a microphone look up the properties and you possibly have it muted!
probably because your computer doesn't have a micraphone in it
