Which laptop should I get?
HP DV6406NR for $499.99:
AMD 64 X 2 @ 1.7 GHZ
RAM 1 GB (upgradeable to 4 GB)
120 GB Hard Drive
Video: GeForce GO 6150, up to 287 MB
Networking: 802.11 b/g
HP DV6449US for $749.99:
AMD 64 X 2 @ 1.8 GHZ
RAM 2 GB (Not upgradeable)
160 GB Hard Drive
Video: GeForce GO 6150, up to 559 MB
Networking: 802.11 a/b/g/n
My brother said to get the one for $250 more because:
1. It has 2 GB (Can't I always upgrade from 1 GB to 2 GB for about $100?)
2. The video memory is 559MB instead of 287MB (I don't play games)
3. It has 160GB hard drive, instead of 120GB (Isn't memory pretty cheap these days?)
4. The networking is 802.11 a/b/g/n, with the N making the internet faster. (How much faster would the N make it?)
My computer needs are basic. I will be using WORD, surfing the web, and downloading music. I will be going wireless, and using my dad's optonline service. (He has a me-mo router, which is pre-N.) Is the 2nd computer worth $250 more?

even though its not upgradeable u still should get it it has great MB
get the 1 that has the most memory and the 1 that holds more music and video and it has to have good picutre and a BBBBIIIGGGG screen

As opposed to others the second one is the best if u can afford it.
I has 40gb more thatn the first one, which means u can download like a couple hundered more songs.
it has twice the memory of the first one.
It has faster speed and more color dept.
the thing is, if u consider upgrading, u probably wont, and even if u do, its gonna be more expensive that getting it right now, cos of overhead cost. llike cost of intallation, and transprt.
U may not play games but u never can tell what technology will throw our way in the next hr or yrs.
Y limit urself if u can afford it???

The video is the same. That video card uses some of the main memory. The second one can use more since there's more available with 2GB RAM. The GO 6150 is NOT for gaming.
2GB is definitely preferred for Vista Premium, but you might be able to upgrade the first one cheaper than buying the second. You probably have to buy a 2GB upgrade, as it won't have enough slots to keep the 1GB it comes with and add more. Still, it should only be about $100.
N networking is theoretically faster, but of little practical difference, unless you need to use it where you have poor signal strength. G is still much faster than your internet connection.
